Just like in business, coaching in sport is concerned with maximising the potential of individuals to achieve specific outcome goals. In high profile professional sport, the media obsession with big personality coaches acts to limit understanding of the modern coaching process. Elite level modern coaching is complex and the head coach is much like a conductor co-ordinating support teams and athletes with the aim of winning a gold medal or a premiership. This presentation will aim to shed light on these processes by discussing examples from our work with high performing coaches across a range of sports across the world. We aim to provide insights that can transfer to the business world.
